**7.1 Miranda Rights:** Officers are expected to read the miranda rights when detaining or arresting  a suspect. Miranda rights are required prior to interrogating or questioning a suspect.

in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, 
one will be appointed for you.
